More than 200 workers are losing their jobs at Dave & Buster’s locations in North Carolina because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, according to documents filed with the state Commerce Department.
The three locations in Pineville, Winston-Salem and Cary will permanently layoff 229 employees effective Nov. 8, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice filings. The employees had been temporarily furloughed in mid-March.
Documents show 58 employees will be cut at Carolina Place Parkway at Carolina Place mall in Pineville, 92 at Walnut Street in Cary and 79 at Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.
“We did not foresee how significantly and for how long a time the pandemic and related governmental lockdown orders would impact our business,” the filing stated.
North Carolina remains in Phase 2.5 reopening with restaurants open with limited capacity until at least Oct. 2.
