- Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 2 is nearing its release
- The company will let customers customize the device’s hinge color
- Other details about the offer remain unknown at the moment
Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 2 foldable smartphone will not come in just mystic black or mystic bronze colors as the company is giving buyers a chance to choose a different color for the device’s hinge as well.
Recent rumors said Samsung is going to let consumers customize the color of their Galaxy Z Fold 2, allowing them to use different colors for the hinge and the device’s main body. Now, Samsung has decided to reveal what those colors are.
Based on images the company uploaded to its website (and shared by XDA Developers’ Max Weinbach), consumers will be able to use one of four colors for the Galaxy Z Fold 2’s hideaway hinge: platinum silver, rich gold, ruby red and sapphire blue.
While the Galaxy Z Fold 2 doesn’t look bad in a single color, the four hinge colors give users more ways to customize their foldable device to make it even more appealing. It will also help them recognize specific devices in the event that there are multiple Galaxy Z Fold 2 units placed on the same location or surface.
Those who want to customize the Hideaway Hinge’s colors will only be able to do so if they order the device via Samsung.com, Sammobile noted. This could be the South Korean company’s way of enticing more customers to purchase devices through its own sales channel.
Aside from these, not much is known about the said offer. It’s currently unclear if Samsung will require buyers to pay more for custom hinge colors and whether or not the option will be offered to all customers around the globe.
That said, fans are advised to wait for Samsung to make its final announcements about the new Galaxy Z Fold 2 via the Unpacked Part 2 event scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Samsung will start accepting preorders for the foldable device during the event and may start shipping it weeks later on Sept. 18 if reports from South Korea are accurate.
