ST. CLOUD — The Tech girls soccer team graduated 14 seniors last season so this has been a year of transition and figuring out the team culture.
Thursday night was a strong night for the Tigers as Tech tied Fergus Falls 1-1 and had one of its best games this season, according to head coach Katie Boardman.
“And I felt that this was the first game where we really came together and played cohesively,” Boardman said. “We moved the ball the best we ever have so far.”
The passing was strong on the offensive end as opportunities continued to grow throughout the game,but the Fergus Falls goalie had a good night.
The Tigers did get one goal behind her as Molly Burkstrand found the back of the net to give Tech a 1-0 lead with 30 minutes left in the second half.
Fergus Falls bounced back with a goal about 15 minutes later to make it a 1-1 game. That score never changed as the two defenses played a crucial role in Tuesday’s game.
“This team is a family and it showed tonight on the field,” said Taylor Maiers.
The Tech Tigers hold a record of 0-4-2 after Tuesday’s tie. Tech will travel to Sartell at 5 p.m. Tuesday and then return home to play ROCORI at 7 p.m. Thursday.
