The 6 has a more powerful processor and all of those health features Apple likes to tout for the Watch, like the ability to check your blood oxygen level and ECG. The Series 3 has none of those tools, and it doesn’t connect to cellular networks either, which means that you can’t use the 3 in the new Family Setup plan. That allows multiple watches to be linked to one iPhone and is being sold as a way to get the kids a watch without having to buy them expensive smartphones.

Will the Xbox Series S hold back next-gen gaming?

Microsoft revealed its Xbox Series S console last week, aiming to offer more budget-friendly next-gen gaming for $299. The console is specifically targeted at 1440p resolution rather than 4K, leading to some lingering questions and confusion around just how well it will play next-gen games. There are concerns around the GPU performance, memory, and whether the Series S could hold back next-gen gaming. I got a chance to speak with Jason Ronald, Microsoft’s director of Xbox program management, to dig into what’s really going on with the Xbox Series S.

The biggest difference between the larger Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S, apart from the size and design, is the GPU inside. The Xbox Series S has 4 teraflops of GPU performance, compared to the 12.15 teraflops on the Xbox Series X. The smaller console also has less RAM (10GB instead of 16GB) that also runs slower than

Netflix woos Japan with new original series about a reporter

TOKYO (AP) — Netflix is producing and shooting an original series set in Japan about a journalist who challenges authority, hoping to woo this nation that’s hooked on watching good old TV.

Good timing. The series’ heroine is based on a muckraking real-life reporter, Isoko Mochizuki, who has doggedly questioned a politician who has just become prime minister, Yoshihide Suga.

Suga took office this week after his boss, Shinzo Abe, resigned over health problems.

The Netflix series called “The Journalist” is based on the story of Mochizuki, a reporter for the Tokyo Shimbun, who kept asking questions of Suga at his news conferences as chief government spokesman, despite being cut off, ignored or ridiculed. That’s a sight common in the U.S. and some other nations but rare in hierarchical, orderly Japan.

The series will be directed by Michihito Fujii, who was behind a 2019 award-winning movie that Netflix has adapted

Apple’s popular smartwatch is getting an update, called the Apple Watch Series 6, with a key new health sensor, as well as features focused on making the gadget easier to use with kids. The new sensor for the Apple Watch can measure your blood oxygen level in 15 seconds, Apple said, and will also track your blood oxygen in the background. The feature adds to 2019’s Apple Watch Series 5, which Apple used to introduce technology that enabled an always-on display, turning its Watch into more of a watch, as opposed to the wrist computer some people consider it to be.

“The future of health is on your wrist,” Apple said in one of its promo videos.

Apple also announced new services

Study Abroad EdTech Company ApplyBoard Raises $55 Million Series C Extension

Now their Waterloo, Ontario-based company ApplyBoard is the world’s largest digital hub for international student recruitment—having helped 120,000 students identify and apply for 1,200-plus schools abroad. Today the company announced $55 million in Series C extension funding from Educational Testing Service, Index Ventures, Blue Cloud Ventures and Harmonic Growth Partners at a $1.4 billion valuation.

“Our company happened accidentally,” 32-year-old cofounder and CEO Martin Basiri told Forbes. “Meti, Masi [Basiri] and I came to Canada 10 years ago and in the process we figured out how hard the process is. From

Microsoft Says It Didn’t Need Halo Infinite To Be A Launch Title For Series X To Succeed

Halo Infinite was supposed to headline the launch lineup for the Xbox Series X/S, but Microsoft delayed the game to 2021 due in part to the impact of COVID-19 and working from home. It’s a big loss for the console’s launch, as it would have marked the first time since the original Halo in 2001 that a Halo title was released day-and-date with new Xbox hardware.

But in a statement to The New York Times, Xbox spokesperson Cindy Walker downplayed the Halo Infinite delay. Walker said Microsoft of course would have wanted to have Halo Infinite ready for the Series X/S launch, but despite the delay, Walker remains confident that there will be enough games available at launch to encourage people to buy in.

“Having Halo at our launch would have been tremendous,” but “we are not reliant on massive exclusive titles to drive console adoption,” Walker said. “Our players
