Virginia Tech will start Hendon Hooker at quarterback against Boston College |

He had 21 tackles (13 solo) with 1.5 for a loss in 32 career appearances (three starts). His most memorable moment came in 2018 when he forced a fumble against North Carolina at the goal line to set up a game-winning scoring drive.

The Hokies opened the season with 15 scholarship defensive backs and eight of those were safeties. They have eight games left and are now down to five with Devon Hunter (suspension) and Nasir Peoples (injury) also expected to miss the entire season.

Tech faced a worst-case scenario of sorts in recent weeks when the secondary was also hit with what Fuente described as a “concentrated” COVID-19 outbreak that forced Armani Chatman, Devin Taylor, Brion Murray, Deablo and Keonta Jenkins to miss time.

Deablo and Jenkins were both out of the line against North Carolina, and Chamarri Conner was ejected from the game in the first quarter on

Boston College vs. Georgia Tech: Gametime, TV Announced

Boston College’s upcoming October 24th game against Georgia Tech has a kickoff time and TV listing. Per a release from the ACC Conference, the game will be a 4pm kickoff on the ACC Network. Per state regulations surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic , fans again will not be allowed to attend this game.

This is Georgia Tech’s first time visiting Alumni Stadium since 2008. The two teams have played just four times in conference play since BC joined the ACC in 2005. Most recently the two teams played in 2016 in the season opener in Dublin. The Yellow Jackets held on to win that game 17-14.  All-time, Georgia Tech holds a 7-2 series advantage in the series.

Georgia Tech is currently 2-2 with wins over Louisville and Florida State, and losses to Syracuse and UCF. The Yellow Jackets are led by former Temple head coach Geoff Collins, who was hired by

Boston College vs. Virginia Tech: Weekly Kickoff

Boston College (3-1) won a thrilling 31-30 overtime classic on Saturday against the Pitt Panthers at Alumni Stadium. But now it is time for the team to hit the road again, turn the page and prepare for #23 Virginia Tech (2-1) in the newest chapter in the team’s rivalry.

The Eagles and Hokies have had some memorable moments on the gridiron in the past 30 years. The moments are all engrained in our memories. Quarterback Michael Vick running for 210 yards and three touchdowns, Matt Ryan silencing Lane Stadium in 2007 or the Hokies beating the Eagles for two straight ACC titles. Boston College has won the last two matchups including last year’s season opener, but the Hokies own an 18-10 series edge.

This year, the rivalry enters a new phase. Over the past few years, former defensive coordinator Bud Foster and head coach Frank Beamer both retired. Justin Fuente,

Virginia Tech Opens As Huge Favorites Over Boston College

Boston College (3-1) will try and make it two in a row when they take on the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday. Boston College won a thriller on Saturday, defeating Pitt 31-30 on a missed extra point by Panthers kicker Alex Kessman in overtime. The Hokies (2-1) suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 56-47 to UNC.

The Hokies offense, particularly the rushing attack has been the strongest part of their game. Kansas transfer Khalil Herbert has already risen to become one of the best running backs in the conference. Through four games he has rushed for 449 yards, averaging over ten yards per carry, along with five touchdowns. The passing attack has been more uneven, but if Hendon Hooker starts at quarterback, look for this to change.

The online betting site betonline.ag has posted the current line for the upcoming game between the Eagles and Hokies. They have

Four takeaways: Virginia Tech’s loss at North Carolina | College Sports

New coordinator Justin Hamilton, who finally got to call a game in his new job Saturday, will need to figure out some answers before Tech’s next game, against an offensively-rejuvenated Boston College team.

2) The offense is better with Hooker: Last year’s starting quarterback, Hendon Hooker finally got on the field in 2020 and he showed what he brings to the offense. Going into the game, Braxton Burmeister, Tech’s starter in the first two wins, had a completion percentage under 45% and the Hokies were just 10 for 33 on third-down.

Last season, Hooker completed over 60% of his throws and Saturday, after Hooker took over, Tech went 2 for 4 on third downs in the second half.

Hooker finished 7 for 13 for 136 yards and two touchdowns.

3) Herbert is the Hokies identity: For reasons that are hard to explain, Virginia Tech’s play calling largely ignored the ACC’s

Losing to Mississippi State and Missouri in a three-game span would send any coaching staff scurrying back to the drawing board in search of answers.

That LSU has lost to the Bulldogs and Tigers on the heels of last year’s national championship leaves the Tigers’ season teetering on the brink even before encountering the meat of the conference-only schedule.

Missouri, which had six scoring drives of at least 75 yards, took a 45-41 lead with five minutes left in the fourth quarter and made a goal-line stand with seconds left to pull off the upset as roughly two-touchdown underdogs.

Less dangerous on offense and a disaster on defense, the 1-2 Tigers still face a murderer’s row of SEC competition: Florida next week, Auburn on Halloween, and Alabama and Texas A&M in November.

The season already seems lost. How much worse can

No. 8 UNC’s offense too much for No. 19 Virginia Tech in 56-45 defeat | College Sports

Running back Khalil Herbert made his presence felt in the quarter as well with a 52-yard touchdown run. Herbert converted the third-and-8 by weaving through the secondary to top 100 yards for the third straight game.

The Hokies held on to the ball for nearly 11 minutes in the third quarter, but couldn’t overcome the 21 points they spotted UNC in the first quarter.

North Carolina scored on their first three possessions to lead 21-0 while averaging 9.7 yards per play.

Howell completed 10 of 12 passes for 123 yards and a 37-yard touchdown toss to Brown in the first quater. Brown, who beat Tech cornerback Armani Chatman down the field, got one foot down at the back of the end zone for the score.

Williams ran for two scores in the quarter.

Tech’s defense forced a pair of three-and-outs in the second quarter — Dorian Strong broke up a
