1. New Google Nest Thermostat with Soli

Google Pixel 4 XL Teardown Soli Radar

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is usually hot on the heels of Apple news. Or, is busy talking about the Los Angles Lakers. But he had a Google scoop late yesterday: the company looks close to releasing a new, cheaper Nest Thermostat.

  • Now this isn’t A1 news because, you know, thermostats.
  • The original Nest Thermostats are a little bit special to me. I recommended them early on to some friends and colleagues, and each one raved about it more and more.
  • It became a challenge to find someone who didn’t absolutely love the improvement over old-style thermostats.
  • Being in Germany and stuck with incredibly terrible thermostats again, you come to appreciate what Nest created. Before Google stepped in and snapped them up, of course.

Anyway, Google is stepping

The new top-end Apple Watch Series 6 is slightly faster, brighter and cheaper with a new sensor – and does just enough to stay the king of smartwatches.

Load Error

Available in two sizes, 40 or 44mm, and in a variety of case materials and colours, it starts at £379 in aluminium. Our test watch is in 44mm graphite stainless steel costing £699. It requires an iPhone and cannot be used with Android.

The Series 6 follows the excellent Series 5 from 2019, which introduced an always-on display cementing the Apple Watch at the top of a pile and making it a very difficult act to follow.

The new watch is essentially the Series 5 with a new blood oxygen saturation sensor on the back – more on that later. It also has a faster chip and a screen that is 2.5x brighter when in the “always-on” ambient mode, which

A Wall Street strategist says it’s time to exit tech stocks, and recommends 3 sectors that are cheaper and steadily improving

  • Steven DeSanctis of Jefferies told CNBC on Tuesday that many large technology stocks are getting “pricey” and investors should look for alternatives in other sectors.
  • “At nine times revenue, 10 times revenue, it gets a little pricey, and with that any bad news will actually be a huge detriment to these stocks,” the equity strategist said, referring to technology stocks.
  • He recommends investors buy stocks in industrials, consumer discretionary, and materials sectors as alternatives to technology.

Steven DeSanctis, Jefferies equity strategist, told CNBC on Tuesday that many large technology stocks are getting “pricey” and there are cheaper alternatives that investors can buy now.

“At some point you have to say what is too high,” DeSanctis said, referring to tech stock valuations. “At nine times revenue, 10 times revenue, it gets a little pricey, and with that any bad news will actually be a huge detriment to

Elon Musk teases cheaper Tesla model coming

Tesla Model 3

Today, the least expensive Tesla in the lineup is the approximately $38,000 Model 3.

Ultraperformance $140,000 Plaid models and fancy self-driving tech are cool (and certainly what brings all the fanboys to Tesla’s yard,) but I think that the only way electric cars will ever have a shot at replacing the combustion engine type is to bring the price way down. Fortunately, it seems Tesla CEO Elon Musk also knows this and he’s “confident” that the electric car company can build a $25,000 electric vehicle in the next few years.

At Tesla’s annual shareholder’s meeting and Battery Day 2020 event, Musk and Drew Baglino, Tesla senior vice president of Powertrain and Energy Engineering, outlined an extensive plan to reduce the cost of battery and electric vehicle manufacturing with changes to nearly every aspect of how Tesla builds cars.

Tesla’s value drops $50 billion as Musk’s promised cheaper battery three years away

(Reuters) – Investors slashed $50 billion from Tesla Inc’s market value on Tuesday despite CEO Elon Musk’s promise to cut electric vehicle costs so radically that a $25,000 car that drives itself will be possible, but not for at least three years.

Tesla’s market cap dropped $20 billion in just two hours after trading closed Tuesday, as Musk and other Tesla executives presented their new battery and manufacturing strategies. Shares closed down 5.6% and dropped another 6.9% after hours.

“Nothing Musk discussed about batteries is a done deal,” said Roth Capital Partners analyst Craig Irwin. “There was nothing tangible.”

Investors had expected two significant announcements at Musk’s oft-touted “Battery Day”: The development of a “million mile” battery good for 10 years or more, and a specific cost reduction target — expressed in dollars per kilowatt-hour — that would finally drop the price of an electric vehicle below that of a

How the cheaper Series 3 and SE compare to the new Series 6

Consumers thinking about buying a new Apple Watch might be wondering what’s the difference between the older (but still on sale) $199 model and the new $399 Series 6?

Apple unveils new iPads, watches, no new phone

A lot.

The 6 has a more powerful processor and all of those health features Apple likes to tout for the Watch, like the ability to check your blood oxygen level and ECG. The Series 3 has none of those tools, and it doesn’t connect to cellular networks either, which means that you can’t use the 3 in the new Family Setup plan. That allows multiple watches to be linked to one iPhone and is being sold as a way to get the kids a watch without having to buy them expensive smartphones.

Lucid’s CEO wants his company’s technology to make EVs cheaper

  • Lucid CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson doesn’t think big batteries are the key to efficiency.
  • He has plans to mass-produce the tech behind the Lucid Air and wants to see it in other cars.
  • He also said that Lucid’s tech is “more advanced” than Tesla’s.
  • Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.

Believe what you want about trickle-down as it applies to economics, but it’s a tried-and-true method in cars. Lucid Motors, the new EV startup on the scene, isn’t just bringing a new car to the market — it’s bringing technology, with the hope of that technology paving the way for more affordable EVs.

On Wednesday, Lucid launched the Air sedan, its first EV that’s aimed directly at the Tesla Model S. It boasts a 9.9-second quarter-mile time, super fast charging, and a 517-mile range.

With prices starting at $80,000 ($72,500 after the US federal tax credit), it was

A Much Cheaper Alternative To A Samsung Galaxy Watch 3

Honor has announced a new watch called the Watch GS Pro. It will sell for 249 Euro, which equates to around $300.

This is a fairly expensive watch for Honor, renowned for its high quality-to-cost ratio products. Its last watch, the Honor Magic Watch 2, currently costs just $170. However, it is conspicuously cheaper than the other clear competitor, the $399 Samsung Galaxy Watch 3.

So, where are the cutbacks?

Honor positions the Watch GS Pro as a rugged watch for outdoorsy types. It has a stainless steel bezel and top body enclosure. No issue there, particularly as Honor also says the watch meets 14 of the 29 MIL-STD-810G military spec ruggedization tests and offers 5ATM water resistance.

The Honor Watch GS Pro is more of a fitness watch than a true smartwatch, though, as

Walmart tries to undercut Amazon Prime with cheaper subscription service

For that price, subscribers will get unlimited free deliveries from stores on orders over $35. More than 160,000 items are covered by this, including fresh groceries and household essentials. Walmart says these deliveries can be “as fast as same-day,” but it seems delivery speed will depend on what exactly is in each order.

Subscribers will also get fuel discounts at affiliated gas stations worth up to five cents on the gallon and the option to shop in store using Walmart’s Scan & Go mobile app. This lets customers scan items as they shop and pay through their phone. Walmart+
